Assemblage / Pricing and sustainability
Free to make and preview. Your first site is free and public for a week. After that, keeping it public takes the upgrade.
The line
Why it works this way
Making a site and looking it over should cost nothing. That is when you are still deciding whether it is any good. Previews stay at a private address, out of the way of search engines.
Your first site goes public free for a week. Put it in front of the world, share the link, and see how it feels before you decide anything. To keep it public after the week, you upgrade.
You pay when it becomes real, when you put it in front of the world or point your own domain at it. One site is $4 a month. If you keep more than one, like a portfolio, an archive, and a page for a show, $8 a month covers as many as you want.
The details
- Plenty of room for media. Storage and bandwidth are generous, sized for photographers and filmmakers. If a site ever gets a lot of traffic, you will hear about it first. Nothing gets cut off by surprise.
- Cancel anytime from the billing portal. A cancelled site is paused, and your folder is on your disk regardless.
- You never type a card into a chat. Payment happens on a normal, secure checkout page in your browser.
Sustainability
Assemblage graciously received a small amount of capital to begin. We are thankful for it. There are no plans to raise more. What you pay covers the cost of keeping your sites online, which is what lets the tool stay small and keep working the way it does today.
